New 2010 Mercedes-Benz E350 CDI
10th January 2010. Mercedes long claimed that its cars possess engineering like no other car - that was until 2001 when the bean counters took over and it was hard to differentiate a C or E Class from a Mondeo or Avensis. Happily, things have changed - and the new Mercedes-Benz E350 CDI really is designed and built to a standard unmatched by any equivalent German executive car. The attention to detail and finish is quite extraordinary - and that alone is good enough reason to buy one. But the Mercedes-Benz E350 CDI drives beautifully - and the new Blue Efficiency programme makes it an environmentally friendly choice as well.
MERCEDES C CLASS BLUE EFFICIENCY
5th January 2010. Mercedes-Benz has responded to the challenge laid down by BMW to reduce CO2 on a range of highly efficient Mercedes C-class models. Called the “Blue Efficiency” range, the C Class uses hi-tech to reduce consumption and CO2 emissions on the Mercedes C180 Kompressor, the C350 CGI and the C200 / C220 CDI. Perhaps the best is the C200 CDI Blue Efficiency with a 2.2L 4-cylinder CRD with 134 PS and 199 lbft torque, returning 55 mpg average with CO2 at 135 gkm. Perfomance hasn't suffered with a 0-60 time of 10.5 seconds and reaching 137 mph. Drag has been reduced from .27 to .25 by reshaping the grille, sealing the headlights and installing new aerodynamic side door mirrors. The weight has fallen due to a thinner screen, lighter sound deadening material and lighter alloy rims fitted with low resistance tyres. The C180 Kompressor Blue Efficiency gets a smaller capacity 1.6L engine (although it retains the same name), Fuel consumption has improved by 7 mpg to 44 mpg and CO2 emission down to 156 gkm. The bigger C350 CGI Blue Efficiency has the new design directinjection 3.5L V6 motor with 289PS and 269lbft torque. The C180k will do 33.6 mpg puttingout 220gkm – which avoids band “G” tax. The C350 CGI is a real performer; it hits 60mph in a tad over 6 seconds with a limited maximum of 155mph.
NEW MERCEDES-BENZ S CLASS - BY BRABUS
A new Mercedes-Benz S Class has been announced by German tuning experts Brabus. The new model will be called SV12R and is capable of 211 mph. The new Brabus Mercedes will be seen for the first time at the forthcoming German Frankfurt motorshow in Frankfurt. The new Mercedes has a simply vast dual-turbo V12 power plant, taking capacity to a (traditional for Mercedes) 6.3L, whilst gaining a revised and highly modified crank shaft, forged pistons, a huge turbo charger with a remapped ECU and a stainless_steel exhaustsystem. This new Mercedes is producing 740PS whilst its torq is held down to 811 lbft. The new Mercedes SV12R reaches 60 mph in a staggering 4 seconds, whilst the 0-125 mph time is under 12 seconds. Maximum all out speed has been kept to 211 mph. Brakes are vital in such a weighty, powerful machine and Mercedes approved twelve piston calipers (and 6-cyl at the rear) do an impressive job of pulling this performance limousine to a halt. Brake discs are 380 x 36 mm size, vent and cross-drill design which is near F1 standard. Brabus Mercedes S Class design has always been distinctive and performance orientated. A vast front spoiler is said to reduce lift whilst improving venting to the brakes. New Mercedes S Class prices will be eclipsed by the SV12R, and are not yet available, but you should prepare yourself for a substantial six figure price tag. The Brabus SV12R will be available to special order only in Mercedes car dealer showrooms, early in 2010. Discounts will be ZERO!
