New 2010 Skoda Superb Estate
10th January 2010. Skoda has parked right on the front lawn of the Volvo V70. It is quite incredibly spacious - with a high-class feel - and is (excuse the pun) superbly screwed together. If one ignores the badge (still hard for many buyers), this elegant yet practical load carrier is a genuine class rival for any prestige German brand - the key difference is that it will probably cost you £10,000-£15,000 less!
BARGAIN PRICE - NEW SKODA OCTAVIA 1.4 TSI 122PS
3 January 2010. The new Skoda Octavia 1.4 TSI petrol engine hatch is so competitively priced that we needed to tap the calculator twice to check its discount price. The Octavia is very comfortable, good to drive, with a truly gigantic interior - with space to spare. Skodas have earned a well deserved reputation for being great value to buy and cheap to maintain over the longer term. The 1.4 TSI VW sourced motor is a peach - being refined, powerful yet frugal. The 1.9L and 2.0L diesel motors are certainly economical, but somewhat noisy. The Octavia isn't an exciting drive but it is thoroughly safe and predictable, which is exactly what many new car buyers want. If you can run to the Elegance trim, it offers an amazing array of included equipment - and still falls well below a lowly model Golf or A3. The new Skoda Octavia 1.4 TSI is both one of the largest cars in its price range and offers superb value for money. Choose carefully, though: some of the diesel engines are noisy and cheaper models miss some equipment.
New Skoda Fabia vRS - 178 PS!
Skoda has announced a very hot new Fabia model - the vRS which will kick out a feisty 178 PS. The new Fabia vRS has a far more sporting and "butch" look than the outgoing model - which was a real Q car. Shared with the IbizaCupra, the 1.4L Twin Charger’ motor will rush the Fabia vRS from 0-60 mph within 7 seconds and has a top speed of 140 mph. Skoda has decided to shun the plain style of the previous vRS, the new Fabia will have a decidedly performance look instantly identifiable standing next to a cooking model. The former Fabia vRS had a 130PS diesel engine, however Skoda will only offer the new vRS as a petrol model. The new Fabia vRS 7-speed DSG gearbox has a paddle shift option and will become standard equipment. Pricing will start below £16000 On The Road - which is good value considering the power and specification. The new Fabia vRS will arrive in Skoda dealer showrooms early next year, with the first deliveries arriving by summer 2010.
